UNTs offer free online training programs
Free online education in Paris is becoming more popular, and UNTs are taking advantage of it. The government created Thematic Digital Universities, or UNTs, in 2005. They are independent universities without degrees that offer free online training programs to all citizens. There are more than 34 000 free educational resources available through UNTs, and you can access them on your own time. UNTs are a great resource for students, especially those with a busy schedule.
The UNODC, for example, offers free eLearning courses to educate the public about international security threats. These include transnational organized crime, terrorism, illicit drugs, human trafficking, forest crime, and wildlife crime. There are also courses on cybercrime, as well. The UN System Staff College is also growing its online offerings. You can choose from among hundreds of courses to improve your knowledge about topics related to human security and peace.
HEC Paris offers a TEFL program
HEC Paris offers a TEFL certificate program that is tailored to meet the needs of working TEFL teachers. The course teaches standards of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) as well as practical methods to implement these standards. Earning a TEFL certification in Paris will give you an understanding of the educational values and systems in other countries. During the course, you’ll also get to experience teaching in a real ESL classroom. For six to ten hours each week, you’ll perform a TEFL lesson and receive critical feedback from students.
Housing is an important factor in determining how much you pay for your course. In Paris, rent is the largest expense – a one-bedroom apartment in the center of Paris is 1,175 EUR per month – and you’ll likely need to pay for some form of transportation, like a car or public transit. However, most TEFL courses will include accommodation in their course fees. In addition, some TEFL programs offer subsidized housing for teacher trainees, usually within walking distance of the school. Food is expensive in Paris, too. A one-way metro ticket costs 1.80 EUR, making meals a bit more expensive.
